Session preparation

Preparing for your session with the body mech

This guide will walk you through everything you need to know before, during, and after your appointment, including how to prepare for specialized treatments like cupping therapy. From what to wear to post-session care, we’ve got you covered. Let’s get ready to help your body move, perform, and feel its best!

What to wear

Wear loose-fitting clothing to allow access to your back, legs, and arms. You may be asked to remove some items of clothing so please consider this in your clothing choice.

For Women: Please wear a sports bra if booking in for posture correction or any upper body session, if possible please wear one with an open back to give the best access to your back and lats.

For Cupping/Hijama: Please wear dark, thick, loose fitting clothing to avoid any potential blood stains to appear through your clothing.

Arrival Time

Arrive approximately 10 minutes early to your appointment. This allows for maximising the session and reduces any potential overlaps with other appointments.

Medical History

Share any relevant medical history or injuries with your therapist beforehand.

For cupping therapy, disclose if you have diabetes (which type) skin conditions, are on blood thinners, or have any circulatory/ cardiovascular issues.

Hydration

Staying hydrated is key for optimal results. Drink plenty of water:

Before Your Session: Proper hydration ensures your muscles are ready for therapy and reduces discomfort during techniques like cupping.

After Your Session: Water helps flush out toxins released during the massage, especially after cupping, which can stimulate lymphatic drainage.

Post-Session Tips

Aftercare for Sports Massage:

  • Avoid strenuous activities for the rest of the day.
  • Use gentle stretches to maintain mobility.
  • Apply a warm compress to soothe any soreness.

Aftercare for Cupping Therapy:

  • Avoid hot showers, saunas, or intense heat for 24 hours.
  • Avoid strenous activity for 24 hours after your session.
  • Expect mild bruising or marks that will fade within a few days.
